The CAARE Lab

The Cognitive Neuroscience, Artificial Intelligence, Agency, Reflection, and Ethics (CAARE) Lab investigates the neural, philosophical, and ethical dimensions of building and using artificial intelligence.

Bridging cognitive science, neuroscience, philosophy of biology, and AI ethics, we explore how natural and artificial systems generate meaning, agency, and decision-making and how intelligent systems can be designed to remain aligned with human values.
